By Cheriff Konneh

The controversial and embittered Honourable Tawa Conteh, representing Constituency 132 in the West End of Freetown who is well known of having accused Parliament ,as an institution, of been corrupt has been termed as more corrupt than the word itself.

Certain concerned constituents of  Constituency 132  have expressed utter dissatisfaction with their representative and have even filled in a complaint to his SLPP party over his double face public life furthering that he has never been accountable to them.

Unlike his predecessor, Hon. Amani Sannoh, who year in year out publicly accounted for monies  he received on behalf of his constituents and allowed the Constituency Development Committee alongside, Councillors to implement development projects .

It is alleged that Hon. Tawa  Conteh, shortly after he was sworn in as MP, decided to dissolve the Development Committee, and since then, with utter disregard has refused to give account in his three years as MP.

These concerned constituents intimated this medium that they have so far gathered key allegations in which the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) might be interested in and mount a thorough investigation.

They said that the MP has so far failed to account for the sum of Le,230,000,000 he received as Constituency Development Fund to  construct a Constituency Office.

In addition, they claimed that he received a total of Le905,000,000 from SICON, Africell and the First Lady to complete the construction of a school in the Constituency, which his predecessor left at No.9, with the intention to name it after Fatima, but people rejected the naming and even say the amount spent was not even up Le,100,000,000.

Another allegation made against the MP is that he received an amount of money from the President amounting to Le345,000,000 to construct a pavilion at Services Secondary School in Lumley, Juba, which  he later named after the President, despite the fact that the old pupils warned against the naming on the grounds that the President didn’t attend the school. However, he ignored the warning and went ahead with it.

It was further revealed how Hon. Tawa received  US$60,000 on behalf of the Constituency for the sale of Levuma Beach Land on constructions are currently  taking place.

Against the aforementioned backdrop, the MP has blatantly refused to account for those monies and he continues to pretend to the public that he is stoutly  fighting corruption.

The constituents , in that regard, are fervently demanding an immediate investigation of the Member of Parliament.
