The Parliament of Sierra Leone on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, paid glowing tributes to the late Hon. Lucinda Finda Kellie during an official lying-in-state ceremony held at Parliament, where lawmakers, family members, and colleagues laid wreaths and signed the Book of Condolence in her honour.
The solemn ceremony brought together Members of Parliament and family members to celebrate the life and service of the late former legislator, who represented Kono District and served on several parliamentary committees.
Serving as Master of Ceremonies, Sheku Lamin Turay, Director of the Parliamentary and Public Relations Department, described the late Hon. Kellie as a remarkable personality whose contributions to Parliament and dedication to her Christian faith left a lasting legacy.
Delivering his tribute, Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina celebrated her as an illustrious daughter of Sierra Leone whose life was defined by service, humility, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her people.
He noted that Hon. Kellie was a distinguished member of the All People’s Congress (APC), following in the footsteps of her father, who was among the party’s early pioneers. He further described her as a woman of warmth and compassion who inspired many young people and played a significant role in mentoring and supporting others.
Leader of Opposition, Hon. Abdul Kargbo, said her passing came as a profound shock and served as a painful reminder of the fragility of life.
He described the deceased as a caring, compassionate, and selfless individual who consistently showed concern for the welfare of others. According to him, even during difficult times, she remained attentive to the needs of her colleagues and friends, offering support, encouragement, and kindness whenever needed.
Hon. Kargbo said her death is a great loss not only to her family and the APC, but also to Parliament and the nation as a whole. He stressed that although she is no longer alive, her legacy of friendship, compassion, and public service will continue to inspire many.

Hon. Bernadette Wuyatta Songa also paid tribute, describing Hon. Kellie as a dedicated parliamentarian who believed strongly in unity, trust in God, and service to humanity.
She said the late lawmaker inspired countless women to pursue leadership and public service, leaving a lasting impact through her parliamentary work and her commitment to improving lives.
“As we mourn her departure, we pray for strength, comfort, and an end to the loss of valued members of our parliamentary family,” Hon. Songa stated.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Kumba Kellie Kaikai described her sister as a prayer warrior and devoted mother who was deeply committed to supporting and uplifting family members.
The lying-in-state ceremony served as a moment of reflection on the late Hon. Lucinda Finda Kellie’s contributions to national development, parliamentary service, and the lives she touched during her time in public office.
