Outgoing SLBA President Tuma Jabbie Meets Attorney General and Minister of Justice

Outgoing President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA), Ms. Tuma Adama Jabbie Gento Kamara, has met with Attorney General and Minister of Justice Alpha Sesay ahead of the Association’s Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) scheduled for Thursday, 6th August 2026.

The meeting, according to the Attorney General, focused on ensuring a smooth transition process within the Bar Association in line with the Association’s notice issued on 1st August 2026.

Mr. Sesay disclosed that both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to maintaining a strong, effective and functional Bar Association, while discussing arrangements for the establishment of a caretaker body to be determined by members during the upcoming EGM.

“The Bar Association is a vital institution in upholding the rule of law and advancing access to justice,” the Attorney General stated, adding that there is a collective commitment to supporting the continued stability and effectiveness of the Association.

The Extraordinary General Meeting is expected to provide members with an opportunity to deliberate on the transition arrangements and determine the next steps for the leadership and administration of the SLBA.

The Sierra Leone Bar Association plays a key role in promoting legal professionalism, defending the rule of law and strengthening access to justice across the country.
