Orange-SL Set the Pace in Digital Excellence as 32 Students Graduate in Web Development

The leading mobile telecommunications company in Sierra Leone Orange-SL, through its Orange Sierra Leone Foundation, has on Thursday 8th September 2022, celebrated the graduation ceremony for 32 students of the Orange Digital Center Coding Schools Web and Mobile App Development Course. The event took place at the Orange-SL headquarters at IMATT.

The 32 students have now become certified international web developers, having undergone an intense 6 month full stack course on coding, content management systems and IT culture. 

In attendance was the Orange-SL CEO Sekou Amadou Bah, General Secretary Haffie Haffner, OSL Foundation Director Jestina Betts, Orange Digital Center Coding School head Priscilla Okechukwu, the CEO of Standard Charter Bank SL Yetunde Oni, the CEO of SMEDA Sharka S. Sannoh, the Founder of Insight Consulting SL Farida Bassa and the MD for UBA Bank SL Usman Isiaka. 

In his statement, the Orange-SL CEO Sekou Amadou Bah acknowledged the tremendous effort of the students and thanked them for a job well done. He further said that they should be prepared to face the challenges that the corporate world will place before them.

He urged them to be focused and we’ll determined on pursuing their different career paths to help shape the perception of society and the country at large. He added that Orange-SL will continue to work on projects like these to help transform the lives of young Sierra Leoneans and create a platform that will see the advancement of digital learning environment.

The head of the Orange Digital Center Coding School Priscilla Okechukwu, affirmed that it was indeed a profitable 6 months project. She congratulated the students for a job well done and wished them well in the future.

The students presented the projects they have tirelessly worked on and explained how they plan to use them to correct social issues in the country. She gave a special thanks to the OSL Directors and Senior Management for their support and participation. 

The Orange Digital Center will continue to conduct trainings and capacity building activities in all corners of Sierra Leone, to enhance the digital learning environment for all Sierra Leoneans.

The event climaxed with the sharing of certificates and photoshoot with the students and other dignitaries present.
