In a significant move to advance digital education in Sierra Leone, Orange Sierra Leone has unveiled a modern digital centre at Every Nation Polytechnic in Bo, aimed at equipping young people with practical technology skills for the future.

The facility, launched through the Orange Foundation, reflects the company’s continued commitment to supporting education and bridging the digital gap across the country. The commissioning ceremony was led by the Chief Executive Officer, Aicha Touré, alongside members of the company’s leadership team.

The event attracted a wide range of stakeholders, including education officials, local authorities, school administrators, lecturers, media representatives, and students. Their presence highlighted the growing recognition of partnerships between private institutions and the education sector as a key driver of development.

The newly established centre is fitted with modern computers, reliable internet access, and essential digital tools. It is expected to serve as a practical learning space where students can develop skills in areas such as information technology, digital communication, and innovation.

Addressing the gathering, Aicha Touré stressed that digital literacy is no longer optional but necessary in today’s global economy. She noted that providing access to such facilities will empower young people to compete, create opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to national growth.

She further explained that the initiative is part of a broader effort to reduce inequalities in access to technology, especially for students in less privileged communities. According to her, the goal is to open doors for employment, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning.

Students and staff of Heaven Nation College welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that will improve teaching, research, and overall academic performance. They expressed appreciation to Orange SL and pledged to make good use of the centre.

Some students also shared their excitement, noting that the facility will enhance their ability to access information, build digital skills, and prepare for future careers in a technology-driven world.

The project underscores Orange Sierra Leone’s role in promoting human capital development through innovation and education. As the country continues to embrace digital transformation, initiatives like this are expected to play a crucial role in shaping a skilled and competitive workforce.
