23rd September 2026, The National Revenue Authority (NRA), under the leadership of Commissioner General Mr. Abu Martin Kanneh, has held a strategic engagement with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED) and representatives of non-governmental organisations operating in Sierra Leone.
The meeting followed on an earlier engagement, during which several concerns were raised and resolutions agreed upon. Discussions during the meeting provided an opportunity to review progress, clarify outstanding matters and identify practical steps for implementing the previous resolutions.
Key areas discussed included NGO tax obligations, tax-clearance requirements, filing and payment processes, withholding taxes, duty waivers and other operational matters affecting the sector. Participants also emphasised the need for continued taxpayer education, timely information sharing and stronger coordination among the NRA, MoPED and NGOs.
The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of all parties to maintaining constructive dialogue, improving service delivery and promoting voluntary tax compliance within the NGO sector.
