Nigerian President Tinubu Hosts Former President Koroma in Abuja 

Former President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, on Tuesday, 28th July 2026, paid a courtesy visit to Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.

According to reports from the Nigerian State House, the high-level meeting centered on regional diplomatic matters, updates regarding Dr. Koroma’s legal situation, and his temporary residency in Nigeria. The two leaders also discussed Dr. Koroma’s recent visit to Sierra Leone, where he attended the ECOWAS Mid-Year Summit as a special guest.

The engagement reflected ongoing diplomatic consultations between the two statesmen and reaffirmed their shared interest in promoting regional peace, stability, and cooperation within the ECOWAS sub-region.

Dr. Koroma has been residing temporarily in Nigeria following an arrangement endorsed by ECOWAS, and his meeting with President Tinubu is seen as part of continued regional efforts to maintain dialogue and strengthen cooperation on matters affecting West Africa.

The visit further underscores the longstanding ties between Sierra Leone and Nigeria, as well as the importance of sustained engagement among regional leaders in addressing issues of mutual concern.
