The National Investment Board (NIB) has on the 24th September 2026, presented its Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Budget to the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and Non-State Actors who reviewed the organization’s performance and proposed priorities for the FY 2027.

Opening the proceedings, the NIB Deputy Executive Director, Fatima Mahawa Sandi, aligned the NIB’s budget request with Sierra Leone’s broader development objectives, emphasizing investment promotion, improved business facilitation, and revenue generation inline with the Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP) 2024–2030 and the “Big Five Game Changers”.

She noted the NIB’s vision of strengthening regulatory framework, improving compliance, attracting sustainable investment, and investor aftercare. She added that, the Board’s mission is to position the Country as a premier investment destination in West Africa through private sector-led growth.
Among the key reforms highlighted were the proposed new company and Business Registration law and the Online Business Registration System (OBRS), scheduled for launch in November 2026, alongside NIB’s commitment to supporting Public-Private Partnership (PPP) transactions and project development in collaboration with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Presenting the budget, the Director of PPP Directorate, Mr. Mohamed Abu, highlighted NIB’s focus areas, deliverables, achievements, and challenges for FY 2025 and FY 2026 (January–August), alongside its broader progress since 2022.
He explained that, the 2027 budget was designed to strengthen NIB’s investment facilitation and export promotion role in delivering the MTNDP and the “Big Five Game Changers” through the National Investment Strategy (NIS), with a focus on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure, staff development, operational expansion, and public engagement.

He presented a budget of Fifteen Million, Five Hundred Sixty-Two Thousand, Nine Hundred Eighteen Leones (Le 15,562,918) for stakeholders’ consideration.
Dr. Ilara Mahdi, the Deputy Director of Budget Bureau at the Ministry of Finance, who chaired the session, inter alia commended NIB for its contributions to job creation, business registration digitization, and its contract management framework across MDAs.
The FY2027 budget was subsequently moved for approval by stakeholders present.
