The Director General of NASSIT, Mohamed Fuaad Daboh, on Friday 17th September, 2021, formally handed over the land site for the relocation of the Cathedral Primary School during a brief but impressive ceremony at A. J. Momoh Street, Tower Hill in Freetown.
In his statement, Mr Daboh said he was happy to formally hand over the site to the Anglican diocese to relocate the children of Cathedral Primary School who were dislodged four years ago as a result of the construction of the Sewa Grounds market, adding that the land was originally bought from the Njala University for the construction of a car park, market and shopping mall.
He expressed dissatisfaction over the contractor who abandoned the Sewa Grounds market project, as that led to some legal issues. He however thanked the Anglican Diocese and the solicitors of the diocese for exercising patience and agreeing to settle the case out of court.
While expressing his happiness to hand over the land to the leadership of the church, the Director General thanked Archbishop Thomas Wilson for his courage, fortitude and matured way of handling the situation
Receiving the documents, Arch Bishop Thomas Wilson said that he was happy for the ceremony, as it was all about the welfare and education of the children. He said that his dream which was to see the school constructed closer to the demolished school which had been realised. He expressed belief that in the not-too-distant future, all parties would gather again to officially open the school.
