Two popular Sierra Leonean TikTok personalities, Harriet Alaska and Tutu Sierra Leone, have reportedly been fined Le1,000 each by the Mile 91 Magistrate Court following their controversial “Mammy Kuss” saga.

The court also reportedly ordered the two women to issue a public apology to the people of Mile 91 after weeks of exchanging insults and engaging in verbal attacks against each other during TikTok Live sessions.

Presiding Magistrate Harold Kamara reportedly cautioned social media users against using online platforms to insult, demean or degrade others. He emphasised that social media should be used as a platform for creativity, entertainment and positive engagement rather than personal attacks.

Following the court’s decision, both Harriet Alaska and Tutu Sierra Leone reportedly apologised to the chiefs, elders, women and youths of Yoni Chiefdom, while pleading for mercy.

The ruling brings a legal dimension to a controversy that had attracted considerable attention on social media, highlighting the potential consequences of online disputes when they escalate beyond entertainment.

The incident also serves as a reminder to social media personalities and users that online platforms come with responsibilities, and that actions taken in the digital space can have consequences beyond the internet.
