A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university will be an added advantage. Work Experience: Experience in water infrastructure and Auto hydraulic engineering, WASH systems, Faecal sludge management, operations and maintenance, community sanitation and sanitation marketing etc. Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in engineering, construction/process plant environment or project – based work site or a similar area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Detailed understanding of critical component of public health in engineering, developing a site safety programs and processes. |

| Oversee daily operations at the King Tom FSM site. Coordinate employee schedules, ensuring adequate coverage at all times.Oversee site security and ensure site secured 24 hours per day.Enforce all workplace policies and procedures – developing new ones where there is a need.Coordinate activities together with GOAL and FCC sanitation department and FSM Unit.Mentor and support site staff to develop their capacity as site operatives.Maintain and adhere to site operations.Approve work plans and method statement.Ensure staff adhere to site specific and broader national health safety standards.Address and report safety concerns in a timely manner.Oversee daily operations to ensure optimum plant operation and waste treatment.Track and monitor progress, adhering to prearranged standards and schedules.Mediate on-site conflicts.Prepare and submit weekly activity summary and monthly progress reports to FCC.Conduct laboratory analysis for faecal sludge treatment parameters. | 2. | WASTE TO ENERGY TEHNICIAN | The purpose of the position is to produce pilot compost from the sludge products from the treatment of sludge as a means of value addition to the product. Key Responsibilities Develop composting process protocol for the end-use products from the feacal sludge treatment plant.Documenting the composting process with all set parameters to be monitored.Responsible for the general composting process and labor involved.Collaborate with support from the WASH Co with line ministries.Produce routine weekly updates on the progress of composting process, identify and report challenges and suggest solutions to the challenges.Document learnings from the day to day operations of the composting process.Write monthly reports on the project progress.Collaborate with the labs for testing the compost. All compost –related lab tests as per standards available and recommendation from MAF.Establish a vegetation test garden at the King Tom site to test the effectiveness of compost produced in improving soil nutrients. Test vegetables for safety and fitness to consume.Do soil tests on test gardens and document the suitability of the compost to the various test garden soil conditions in Sierra Leone. Any other duties as and when required. | 1 | Qualifications: An appropriate degree or related qualification in Agriculture, Mechanical or Public Health in Environmental Science from a recognized university/institution. Work Experience: Experience in faecal sludge management, Geo-bag technology, WASH services, sanitation and hygiene preventive measures, modern productive agricultural methods and appropriate technologies, data-collection, entry and analysis. Humanitarian and development organizations. Farming Experience and crop production. At least 3 -4 years of working experience working in the agriculture sector or related fields i.e, composing organic manure. Skills: A demonstrated interest and skills in urban agriculture, permaculture, and/or organic gardening. Technical and practical experience working with composing. Knowledge of compost planning and system implementation. Knowledge of organic waste management practices within a farm system. Understanding of compost equipment, technologies and limitations and their effect on safety, quality and productivity. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products [ Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc People management skills. Good communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills. Excellent interpersonal communication skills Excellent in working as a group lead. Good negotiation and conflict resolution. Strong experience in conducting/organizing workshops, training, or meetings. Strong motivation and organizational skills. Abilities: Ability to work with a high degree of independence and autonomy. Ability to create and maintain a high-performance workplace culture. Able to work independently and act on own initiative. Ability to demonstrate relationships and experience in working with key government and civil society organizations and educational institutions. Honest and transparent in all dealings.
