Former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma has departed Sierra Leone for Nigeria following the conclusion of the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, held in Lungi.

Koroma attended the high-level regional summit as a special guest of President Julius Maada Bio, marking a notable moment of national unity and statesmanship.

During the summit, the former President witnessed the ceremonial handover of the ECOWAS Chairmanship, as President Bio formally transferred the leadership of the regional bloc to Senegal’s President, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

The event brought together Heads of State, former leaders, and senior government officials from across West Africa to deliberate on key regional issues, including peace, security, democratic governance, and economic integration.

Koroma’s participation in the summit, at the invitation of President Bio, was widely viewed as a significant gesture of political reconciliation and national cohesion. Shortly after the conclusion of the summit proceedings, the former President departed Lungi for Nigeria.
