The Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone, is set to host Flot Chief Executive Officer and prominent Sierra Leonean fintech entrepreneur, David Kpakima, for a guest lecture focusing on the growth and development of the country’s financial technology sector.
The session, which will be held for Year Two Banking and Finance students at 10:00 a.m. on the sixth floor of the IPAM New Building, is expected to provide participants with practical insights into the evolution of fintech in Sierra Leone, its impact on financial inclusion, digital innovation, and the future of financial services.
During the engagement, Kpakima is expected to share his experience in building technology-driven businesses and discuss the role fintech companies are playing in expanding access to financial services, improving customer experiences, and accelerating digital transformation across the country. The lecture will also explore how customer relationship management (CRM) supports innovation and sustainable growth within the fintech ecosystem.
As the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Flot, Kpakima has established himself as one of Sierra Leone’s leading technology entrepreneurs. With nearly two decades of experience in banking, telecommunications, marketing, customer experience, and financial technology, he has contributed significantly to the country’s digital transformation agenda.
Beyond Flot, he has founded or co-founded several successful technology companies, including Zoodlabs, Metro Cable, Vult, One Mobile, and FiberOne, earning recognition as a serial entrepreneur with six startup ventures.
His presentation is expected to offer students first-hand knowledge of the opportunities and challenges shaping Sierra Leone’s fintech industry, while highlighting the importance of innovation, entrepreneurship, and strategic partnerships in driving economic growth.
The guest lecture forms part of IPAM’s ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry by exposing students to experienced professionals whose practical insights complement classroom learning.
Students will also have the opportunity to interact with Kpakima during a question-and-answer session, where discussions are expected to cover fintech innovation, digital banking, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and the future of technology-driven financial services in Sierra Leone.
