Connoisseur Consult Sierra Leone, in partnership with the Sierra Leone Local Content Agency, will host the Capital & Business Lab on Saturday, 12 December 2026, at Lagoonda Resort in Aberdeen, Freetown.
The event, scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., will bring together 120 selected participants, including business owners, banking representatives, insurers, professional service providers and diaspora investors.
Mahawa Kamara, founder of Connoisseur Consult Sierra Leone, said the initiative was developed following her team’s engagement with more than 200 enterprises across Freetown, Bo and Makeni over the past two years.
She explained that many businesses had viable products, regular customers and active operations but lacked the systems needed to track earnings, demonstrate profitability and manage investment effectively.
According to Kamara, common challenges included mixing personal and business finances and failing to maintain financial records that banks and investors could assess.
“The Capital & Business Lab addresses this specific challenge,” she said.
The organisers said the Lab would help participants understand funding requirements, strengthen business protection and explore opportunities to enter new markets. Discussions will also cover separating personal and business finances, calculating profit margins and establishing systems that allow businesses to operate without their owners’ constant involvement.
The programme will open with a keynote address by Sidi Saccoh on reducing perceived risk when seeking investment. A practitioner panel titled “What Nobody Tells You” will examine the realities of managing investment in Sierra Leone.
Participants will also take part in three roundtable sessions covering Capital Gateways, Business Protection and Market Gateways. According to the organisers, the sessions will encourage participants to apply the discussions to their own businesses rather than rely solely on general examples.
A structured networking lunch will provide opportunities to connect with potential business partners and service providers.
Kamara said participants should leave with a clearer understanding of their business or investment position and a practical next step. Attendees will also join a monitored group, with follow-up assessments planned at six and twelve months to contribute information to the Sierra Leone Business Health Report.
Registration is open, with local delegates required to pay NLe1,000 per seat. Local bookings can be made through beamsl.com/events/16, with mobile money available as a payment option.
Diaspora and international delegates will pay £40 per seat, with card payments available through the Connoisseur Consults website.
Organisations seeking multiple seats or requiring an invoice can contact the organisers directly. Places will be allocated in order of payment, and registration is scheduled to close on 5 December 2026, or earlier if all 120 seats are filled.
