BO, Sierra Leone — October 6, 2026: Chairman of the Citizens Democratic Party (CDP), Victor King, has alleged that he survived an attack by unidentified individuals who reportedly targeted his vehicle in Bo. Images circulating from the scene show the vehicle with extensive damage to its front section, including a shattered windscreen and a badly damaged bonnet.
King alleged that the individuals behind the incident were acting on behalf of Jimmy Batilo Songa, National Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP). However, the allegation has not been independently verified, and there was no immediate police confirmation identifying the attackers or establishing their alleged political affiliation.

The reported incident comes amid an increasingly heated political dispute surrounding Alhaji Musa Tarawally, whose political membership has become a subject of controversy between the CDP and the SLPP. Recent reports have documented conflicting positions over whether Tarawally resigned from the CDP in 2018 and subsequently became a member of the SLPP.
Speaking after the alleged attack, King maintained that intimidation would not silence him. “I will continue to speak the truth, and no form of intimidation will deter me from saying what is correct,” he was quoted as saying. He further challenged the SLPP leadership, stating: “If the SLPP has a problem with Musa Tarawally, let them solve it.”
The allegation is likely to intensify concerns about the growing political tensions surrounding the Tarawally controversy. While the circumstances of the reported attack remain unclear, the incident raises serious questions about political tolerance and the safety of political actors. Authorities, particularly the Sierra Leone Police, are expected to establish what happened and determine whether any criminal offence was committed. The police officially urge members of the public to report incidents and provide verified information through its channels.
