Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco, His Excellency Alhaji Momodu Koroma, visited the Leone Stars team on Tuesday, September 22, ahead of their TotalEnergies 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Zimbabwe on Thursday.

The visit provided a morale boost to the national team as they continue preparations for the crucial encounter in El Jadida, Morocco.

Ambassador Koroma formally welcomed the Leone Stars delegation to Morocco and assured the team of the Embassy’s support throughout their stay in the Kingdom.

He also acknowledged the positive developments in Sierra Leonean football under the leadership of Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Babadi Kamara, noting that the emergence of new structures provides encouragement for the Government to continue supporting the growth and development of the sport.

Addressing the players, Ambassador Koroma reminded them of the honour and responsibility that comes with wearing the green, white and blue of Sierra Leone. He urged them to proudly represent the country and give their best on the pitch against Zimbabwe.

Responding on behalf of the team, Leone Stars Team Manager Abdul Karim Bangura thanked Ambassador Koroma for the visit and moral support. He assured the Ambassador that the players and technical team remain committed to the national objective of securing qualification for the TotalEnergies 2027 AFCON.

The Ambassador’s visit provided additional national support and encouragement for Leone Stars as they finalise preparations for Thursday’s qualifier against Zimbabwe.
