TEC Certifies UNIMTECH University

The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) today 28th January 2021 presented a certificate of accreditation to the University of Management and Technology (UNIMTECH).

The presentation by the commission’s Chairperson, Prof. Aliyageen Alghali cemented the approval of the TEC and subsequent concurrence from the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education in late 2020 for the institution to operate as the first privately owned indigenous university.

In his statement, Prof. Alghali described the day as remarkable in the history of private higher education in the country.

“Let me congratulate the proprietors for achieving this giant feat which has eluded them in the past. We believe a lot of efforts have been put to prepare you for this occasion,” he said.

He assured that the TEC will remain seize on development in the institution through continuous professional assessment that will ensure that the university is well structured and the quality of the various programmes are in place through adequate provision of learning and research, together with improving staff profile, forestalling learning outcomes and skills acquisition.  The TECH Chairperson warned that they will not spare any effort to ensuring compliance of the laydown practice in line with international best practice.

“Today we are here to present certificate of accreditation to UNIMTECH, taking cognizance of the significant strides they have taken and hoping that more of these strides will be accomplished in the coming years,” Prof. Alghali stated. 

In a joyous mood, vice chancellor and principal of UNIMTECH, Prof. Rosaline Uyanga said: “The certificate issued today by our erudite scholar and Chairman of TEC, prof. Alghali, is not the end but only the beginning for UNIMTECH to prove itself as the best university not only in Sierra Leone but in the entire world of academia.”

She stated that in an effort to meet the tenets of the insttution’s motto: “For Country and for Humanity, UNIMTECH has within twenty-eight years of existence grown to include four campuses in Lunsar, Kambia, Kono and Bo.

She added that they have continued to provide education to suit the diverse educational and human development needs of the country in the various fields of engineering, technology, science, banking, entrepreneurship, business and innovation.
