HON. CHERICOCO HEADS ECOWAS ELECTION MISSION TO GHANA

By Sayoh Kamara

The Honourable Leader of the opposition in Parliament, Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah aka Chericoco, will lead the ECOWAS Election Monitoring  in Ghana and he is expected to depart the shores of Sierra Leone tomorrow Saturday, 5th December instant.

It is believed that the choice of Honourable Bah as Head of the ECOWAS Parliament Election Monitoring Group to Ghana comes out of the high esteem the ECOWAS Parliament holds about the integrity and dexterity in the discharge of his responsibilities.

“I think this is a remarkable feat for this esteemed leader and the Sierra Leone Parliament,” an Observer noted.

The date of the Election Observation Mission has been fixed from 4th to 10th December, 2020.

Honourable Chericoco, leaves for this all-important regional assignment in the wake of the bye election in Constituency 110 slated for the 12th of December, 2020.

Honourable Chericoco launched the APC campaigns for the Constituency on Sunday, 29th November, 2020 in what has been described by Political Pundits as “the most calculated political campaign in recent times.” The campaign launched by Chericoco as Constituency Chairman is aimed at the APC party reclaiming the Constituency’s Parliamentary Seat. The APC won the seat during the 2018 election, it was annulled by the National Electoral Commission (NEC) and during a subsequent rerun in 2019, the APC won it again after the election body had counted about 90 percentage of total votes cast with only one polling center remaining to be counted, and this center was attacked by elements believed to be associated with the ruling SLPP government and the results were deliberately held up and was never announced by the NEC.

The 2019 election rerun at Constituency 110 was conducted under the aegis of Honourable Bah, which leaves no doubt that even with his brief absence, a united APC front on the ground will ensure similar victory for the party.

During the launch of the APC party campaigns in the Constituency, Honourable Chericoco reminded the people of Constituency 110 of the social contractual bond between them as a people and the APC as a political party, as he outlined the numerous positive socio-development strides undertaken by the APC from 2007 to 2018, which had positive and direct impacts in their lives and livelihoods.

Honourable Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah has been a staunch promoter of the ideals and principles of the APC party in Parliament and he his known to be a forthright, fearless and principled opposer of the wrongs and anti democratic antics of the ruling SLPP since they came to power in 2018.
