Acting Vice Chancellor and Principal of Njala University, Professor Osman Sankoh commonly called Mallam .O. has over the weekend inspected an ongoing construction of a one million United States dollars Recirculatory Aquaculture  System at Njala Campus Mokonde.

Dr.Olufemi Julius Olapade,Dean Natural Resources Management School ,Njala University told the Acting Vice Chancellor and Principal that the project is single handedly funded by an American   gold  exploration company operating in Sewafe Kono ,Eastern Sierra Leone- the Seawright Mining Company.

The mining company, the Dean went on is interested in supporting teaching ,learning ,research and community service and it is therefore supporting  the School of Natural Resource Management and Njala University with the Recirculatory Aquaculture system  and equipment.

The One Million dollars investment will go towards the construction of the infrastructure, vehicles and power generation and water sources

The Acting Vice Chancellor and Principal was thoroughly briefed on the design of the facility, equipment and other supporting components of the facility such as water, electricity ,a feed mill by the Head of Department ,Aquaculture and Fisheries ,Dr. Mathew Kpundeh.

He recounted that the facility would be the first modern fish processing and breeding facility in West Africa.

The School of Natural Resources Management is the newest at Njala University and has five Departments such as Forestry, Wood Science, wildlife conservation and management, Fisheries and Aquaculture.

The Acting Vice Chancellor and Principal was on an assessment tour of the School as part of its strides to understand first-hand the challenges affecting teaching, learning and research.

Professor Sankoh was quite impressed with the level of commitment of the Dean and his entire staff and the huge private sector they have attracted to support the growth of their school and Njala University.
