IPAM-USL Celebrates Historic Renovation of Student Canteen Under First Female President

The Student Union Government of the Institute of Public Administration and Management, University of Sierra Leone (IPAM-USL), on Wednesday 31st, May 2023 under the leadership of Salamatu Jagitay, IPAM-USL’s first elected female president, successfully shattered a decade-long stagnation at IPAM-USL by overseeing the much-needed renovation of the student canteen. 

 For over two decades, the student canteen remained untouched, devoid of any renovations. However, under the leadership of Jagitay, the chains of stagnation were finally broken. 

President Jagitay added that, she took it upon herself to transform the canteen into a better and more conducive environment for students, marking a groundbreaking moment in the history of students’ unionism.

From changing the roof, tiles, and paint to re-imagining the canteen’s layout and settings, President Jagitay’s commitment to addressing students’ concerns and improving their welfare is evident. The renovation project was initiated as part of her manifesto, emphasizing the importance of creating a healthier and more conducive environment for meals. 

The renovated student canteen stands as a testament to President Jagitay’s dedication to fulfilling her promises and delivering tangible improvement for students of IPAM-USL. It serves as a beacon of hope and progress, heralding a new era of enhanced student welfare and a more vibrant campus environment.

President Jagitay expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her exceptional team and sponsors, whose unwavering support played a pivotal role in making this project a resounding success.
