It was a historic and unforgettable day for one of Sierra Leone’s finest and youngest lecturers, William Conteh when to his shock and surprise he was announced winner of the prestigious Award for Best Lecturer of Business Administration (IPAM-USL) presented by the Academic Staff Association (ASA) of the University of Sierra Leone (USL) which comprises of three constituent colleges – Fourah Bay College (FBC), Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) and College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS).
William Conteh is a lecturer at the Institute of Public Administration and Management, University of Sierra Leone; in the Business Administration and Entrepreneurship Department. He is a member of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), program analyst – Consultant and Program Assistant to the IFC leasing team.
As a lecturer at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone, Mr. Conteh has been consistent in upholding his values and integrity. Unlike other lecturers from other Universities, Mr. Conteh has always been putting the interest of his students first for lectures, even when the timetable has some negative impacts on him.
He has been a lecturer in the University for long now and since his stay, his work and courageous words to students have enabled men and women to achieve their potential by motivating them to acquire better educational services, to investing into entrepreneurship and to becoming active participants in nation building.
During his lectures, he gave instances of people who are successful as a result of being entrepreneurs rather than working in a bank. His practical examples have always been inspirational, and he has always been a role model to many within and outside of IPAM.
Mr. Conteh has become the Best Lecturer of Business Administration (IPAM USL) from the Annual ASA-USL Award 2022. This award was appreciated by him, fellow lecturers, and the entire student body of the University of Sierra Leone.
If many graduated students in Sierra Leone that have gone through IPAM, they can be proud of becoming businessmen or businesswomen, as a result of the work Mr. William Conteh has been doing to change the mindset of students into more of entrepreneurship programs than just wanting to go to the office place which most times is not lucrative compared to the earnings a businessman makes in a month to that of an office worker that solely depends on his monthly salary without being corrupt.
Conteh’s win serves as a major win for all young lecturers in the various universities, as well as an inspiration and catalyst for them not to relent but to do more so that they too would be recognized for hard work and for being an inspiration not only to their colleague lecturers but also to the students.
