At St. Edward’s Thanksgiving… SAMURA KAMARA CHANGES THE GAME

The march-past marking the 100 years Anniversary of the St. Edward’s Secondary School aka May Park at Kingtom, Freetown, which took place on Sunday 27th February, 2022 took a dramatic twist similar to a political rally, instead of an ordinary school thanksgiving service.

The former 2018 flag bearer for the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Samura Kamara who happens to be an old boy of the St. Edward’s, caused quite a stir as he marched along the streets of Freetown alongside hundreds of his colleague old boys.

Crowds of onlookers jubilantly followed the route of the march past, as they cheered, waved and screamed praises at Dr. Samura while he responded by waving to them. Even from the top floor windows of houses lining the streets, old women and men waved and cheered him on.

Typically, youths that are fans of the APC and of Dr. Samura Kamara lined the streets throughout the march past heaping praises on the APC favorite flag bearer and calling on him to be the next flag bearer of the APC because they have trust and confidence that only he can win victory for the APC and take the party TO State House come 2023. They sang choruses depicting their love and respect for him and voiced messages calling on him to contest the upcoming presidential election.

It was indeed a scene to be hold. Political pundits and social commentators described the drama as a pointer to the fact that Dr. Samura Kamara is respected and loved by majority Sierra Leoneans and that they want him for president 9n 2023.

Dr. Samura Kamara on the other hand was sandwiched by his colleague old boys as he waved and smiled at the cheering crowds. The event which was scheduled to end at 6pm ended at around 10pm amidst tight security by police personnel who trailed behind the old and current St. Edward’s students from the beginning of the march right through to the end.
