The participating schools in the Quiz and Debate Competition included but were not limited to Government Secondary School Bo, Vision International,  Zion Academy Bo, UMC Njagboima, TCSS-Gundama, Tejan-Mamboma, Methodist Secondary school,  Mukeh Tiwa,  Ansarul Islamic Secondary School, Namaya,  UBC, Commercial Secondary School,  SOS Secondary, Milton Comprehensive, Bo Commercial Secondary school, Awada Secondary School,  Hope Royal,  Abdul Nassa,  QRS Junior School, AMSS Bo and UMCC Secondary school.

During the competition, the students demonstrated exceptional sharp wit, critical thinking, and academic excellence.

Some of the gifts won by the students included cash, books, writing materials and other exciting items.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Supervisor Ibrahim Brima Swarray, who doubles as the transformative Chief of the National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA), commended the participating schools for their outstanding performance.

Swarray described the students as shining stars whose collective performance at the competition bears great hope for the future of the country.

He said: “We are truly delighted to be associated with all the participating schools.

“The students have shown great potential and proficiency in the Quiz and Debate competition and we are very confident that they will grow up to shape the future of our country and become leaders in different sectors.”

Chief Swarray also seized the moment to appreciate President Julius Maada Bio and his government for implementation of Free Quality Education since 2018.

He recalled that if a bare-footed, five years-old village man who stared in awe and with great curiosity on his first day at school, today holds degrees from institutions of learning,  can speak English,  French,  use technology,  think critically,  interact freely with world leaders,  and is today President of the Republic of Sierra Leone,  it is with time, sacrifice, care, nurture, and patience.

He said the President had prioritized investing in people because it was the only enduring, inclusive and sustainable pathway to developing the country, noting that central to that investment was free quality education that was universally equally accessible to all.

He promised that the Foundation will continue to do more to ensure improved service delivery and enhance the satisfaction of the Free Quality Education dream.

SOS Bo won the Best Quiz team Award, Queen of the Rosary (QRS) came second. Government Secondary School Bo won the Best Debate competition and St. Andrews Secondary school secured the runners-up. A star prize of five million Leones, in addition to meritorious gifts were shared among deserving competitors.
