IPAM Hosts Indian High Commissioner & Team

Institute of Public Administration & Management (IPAM) – University of Sierra Leone (USL) on Monday 27th September, 2021 was honored with the presence of the Indian High Commissioner to Sierra Leone and his team.

The team was led by Mr. Rakesh Kumar Arura (High Commissioner of India to Sierra Leone). He was accompanied by four others including Prof. Sam Pritoda who delivered a lecture titled: Tech Graduate Youth Entrepreneurship on the theme: Away from Poverty to Prosperity’, to a jam-packed auditorium.

Dilating on the theme Prof. Pritoda who is an international development thinker, policy maker, inventor and entrepreneur with over fifty five years in telecom development, inspired students on the importance of technology and how they can help change their society and the world at large using the knowledge acquired in college on how they can transform their lives through entrepreneurship.

He encouraged students to concentrate on building their lives after graduation through entrepreneurship skills gained during the course of their study, noting that nowhere in the world has entrepreneurship failed to develop individuals and a country when applied to make meaningful impact.

Deputy Vice Chancellor of IPAM, Professor Samuel E B Nonie, thanked the Indian High Commissioner for the interest and confidence reposed in IPAM and for bringing Prof. Pritoda to give a lecture on entrepreneurship at IPAM. He informed his audience that India has a college in Sierra Leone which is affiliated to IPAM. He noted that IPAM has extended its campuses to Makeni, Kailahun and that very soon they would establish another campus in Pujehun.

He used the opportunity to appeal to the Indian Government for support to IPAM.

The Lecturer-in-charge of Entrepreneurship Mr. Nicolas Kamara at IPAM urged students to take their studies seriously, adding that it is now up to them to take charge of their lives and make their own contribution to national development through entrepreneurship and innovation.

The students thanked the visitors for imparting knowledge to them, and that they are more than ready to put what they have learned into practice.
