Saturday 6 February 2021 was a historic day for customers of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Sierra Leone when the leadership of the bank decided to introduce Saturday Banking in Sierra Leone.
Launching the Saturday Banking, the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of UBA, Mr. Usman Isiaka revealed that the UBA cares about its customers the reason Management is introducing the Saturday Banking in Sierra Leone.
He said they considered the decision following growing requests from their customers to extend their banking services to cover weekends and that the Management of UBA Sierra Leone decided to offer Saturday Banking from 6th February 2021 across all branches.
Disclosing some of the benefits of Saturday Banking, the CEO/MD stated that Saturday Banking would improve customers’ perception of UBA as a customer focused bank, improve the Bank’s customer service rating in the market as well as place UBA a step ahead of other banks since no other bank is currently offering this service in Sierra Leone.
Mr. Usman Isiaka further noted that this would also make prospective customers open accounts with the bank mainly because UBA offers Saturday Banking narrating that this initiative is also expected to have positive impact on the Bank’s deposit growth as UBA takes advantage of this to acquire new customers and grow their share of wallet of existing customers underscoring that Saturday Banking would reduce the risk of customers who usually have to carry their Saturday sales home over the weekend.
“To further delight our customers in line with the Bank’s new Customer Experience Mandate Banking Halls will open to customers at 10am and close at 2pm. Staff (scheduled for each Saturday) will be expected to resume 30 minutes before the opening time,” he revealed.
The proactive MD/CEO thanked and appreciated the staff of UBA for sacrificing their Saturdays to please customers.
