The Minister of information and Communication of the ruling Sierra Leone People Party (SLPP) Mohamed Rahman Swarray has on the 6 February 2012 launched the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) at 50th Anniversary and unveiled the logo further revealing the event’s calendar.
In his statement he lauded the APC opposition Leader in Parliament, Hon. Chernor Ramadam Maju Bah aka Hon. Chericoco as a patriotic person who is always putting Sierra Leone first when dealing with national issues
The Minister of information and Communication, who was Guest of Honour, further disclosed that the APC leader in Parliament always look at issues from a nationalistic perspective.
He noted that the APC Members of Parliament played an instrumental role in the Repeal process of Part V of the 1965 Public Order Act which criminalizes libel and sedition further commending them for their inputs in enacting the new Cyber and IMC Acts etc.
The Minister of information as well commended other party leaders in parliament for the support to the media.
Other speakers ,mainly from the media landscape , said a lot of good things about the APC leaders in Parliament continuous support to the development of the media in Sierra Leone.
Other speakers made salient contributions during the programme all mentioning the important roles that the media is playing towards development.
