Former SLPP Honourable Member of Parliament, Bo District, Hon. Suahilo Monyaba Koroma has on behalf of the Gbujan Ruling Family in Pujehun District donated two sets of Football jersey, 17 boots, and two Million Leones to the Pejeh Football Association.
The ceremony which took place on Friday 8th January 2021 at the Pejeh Chiefdom Court Barray attracted youths and traditional authorities.
Making a statement, Hon. Suahilo M. Koroma said in preparations ahead of the Pujehun District annual Chiefdom league entitled ‘President Julius Maada Bio Trophy’ in which all 14 Chiefdoms in Pujehun District will participate in, he together with his family deemed it prudent to be of assistance to their Chiefdom football Association in anticipation for victory at the end of the President Julius Maada Bio Trophy 2021.
He urged youths present to be ambassadors of change and development and further admonished them to use football as a vehicle for economic development and growth.
In his address to his listening audience, Paramount Chief, Pejeh Chiefdom,PC Sheku Abdul Kadiru Monyaba Koroma, Gbujan ll on behalf of the Chiefdom showered profuse thanks and appreciation on Hon. Suahilo M Koroma adding that the gesture was timely and well appreciated.
He lauded the strides of the President Julius Maada Bio led Government to addressing the myriad of concerns around youths employment and intimated all and sundry to be engineers of development, peace and Unity and to refrain from violence.
On his part, Abdulai G. Koroma, Chairman Pejeh Football Association commended Hon. Suahilo Koroma and the Gbujan Ruling Family for their show of magnanimity noting that the donation however did not come as a surprise to them owing to regular support to the people of Pejeh Chiefdom by Hon Swahilo Koroma. He promised to bring the trophy to Pejeh Chiefdom and rallied around the people and traditional leaders to support their bid.
The President Julius Maada Bio Trophy which is expected to start on Saturday 16th January 2021 comes in the wake of the lifting of ban on all sporting activities by NaCoVERC.
