Sierra Leone’s Former Vice President Chief Alhaji Sam Sumana and entourage today visited Makeni to empathize with the people of Makeni and Kono in- laws on the unfortunate loss of innocent lives and destruction that took place in Makeni last week .
It can be recalled that a purely unfortunate and unavoidable clash between government security forces and Makeni youths took place due to misinterpretation of motives over the relocation of a standby generator from Makeni to Lungi to serve the Freetown International Airport and Lungi township .
Former Vice President Chief Sam Sumana acknowledged the timely setting up of a government inquiry to look into the issue of culpability and make appropriate recommendations for redress and to avoid a recurrence in the future .
In his first stop , Chief Sam Sumana paid a courtesy call on the Kono Family’s in- law , former President Ernest Bai Koroma and his sister Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma who both reside in Makeni , both of whom assured the former Vice President and team that they were okay .
Chief Alhaji Sam Sumana’s next stop was to Her Worship Mayor Sunkarie Kamara of the Makeni Municipality were he made a contribution to the affected victims .
Before returning to Freetown. Chief Sam Sumana also visited Paramount Chief Kasanga of Bombali Sebora Chiefdom , Bombali District .
On his way to Freetown , Chief Sam Sumana and entourage stopped at Masiaka to sympathize with the family of late Paramount Chief , Bai Kompa Bomboli of Koya Chiefdom .
The former Vice President was accompanied by other Kono Sons of the soil including former Minister of State , Vice President’s Office and later Minister of Transport and Aviation, Pormasu Sahr Leonard Balogun Koroma , former Ambassador to Russia , John Yambasu , Chairman C4C , Mr. Tamba Sandi , Chief Aiah Songu Mbriwa , Alhaji Akar Koroma, and Dr. David Tam Bayoh .
