Madam Martina Baindu Egbenda has made a final appeal to members of the Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA) to support her vision of unity, inclusion and progress ahead of the association’s presidential election scheduled for Monday, 26 October 2026.

In a message addressed to members of the legal profession, Egbenda urged lawyers to rise above their differences and embrace their shared responsibility to build a stronger, more united and progressive Bar.

She outlined her vision of an association where every lawyer is valued, members’ voices are heard, professional welfare is prioritised, accountability is upheld and the independence of the legal profession is protected.

According to Egbenda, the Bar needs leadership that listens, unites and serves its members. She also highlighted the need to create more opportunities for young lawyers, strengthen support for members, promote professional excellence and restore confidence in the association’s institutions.

She further stressed that the election goes beyond choosing a new president, describing it as an opportunity for lawyers to determine the future of their profession and the legacy they intend to leave for generations to come.

Egbenda called on lawyers across all age groups, regions and professional backgrounds to unite in building an association that represents the interests of every member.

She maintained that collective action would help unite the profession, renew its institutions and advance the shared interests of lawyers across the country.

As voting approaches, Egbenda urged members to make their choice with the future of the Bar in mind, reiterating her campaign message: “One Bar. One Profession. One Shared Responsibility.”

She concluded by calling on members to vote for Team Martina, under the campaign slogan, “Unity, Inclusion and Progress.”
