Orange Sierra Leone (OSL) has paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (#SLPHA), as a way of celebrating #CustomerWeek, and part of efforts to strengthen its partnership with the
Authority and improve network performance at the Port of Freetown.

The engagement, held on Tuesday, 6th October 2026, at the Director General’s office, was led by #OSL General Secretary, Danetta Younge, who expressed appreciation to the DG and the Authority for their continued partnership with
#Orange, both institutionally and as individual subscribers. During the visit, Younge also conducted a survey of the Director General’s experience with the network and sought feedback on connectivity at the port, reaffirming Orange’s commitment to customer satisfaction and service improvement.

In a statement during the meeting, SLPHA’s Director of Planning, Research and Development, Abubakarr Sidique Kamara, Esq. highlighted persistent network connectivity challenges at the port, outlining the history of reported faults and their impact on effective communication within the port environment. The concerns were presented to help Orange identify the issues and take the necessary corrective measures.

The Director General, Yankuba Askia Bio, welcomed the engagement and emphasized the importance of reliable telecommunications services to port operations, stakeholder coordination and customer satisfaction. He further encouraged Orange Sierra Leone to treat the concerns raised as an opportunity to improve service delivery, particularly within the port, where dependable connectivity is essential for efficient operations. “If you conduct a survey on our staff here, you will find out that majority use your network thus making network connectivity better for us here will aid our communication a whole lot,” Mr. Bio said.

The engagement underscores SLPHA’s commitment to constructive partnerships with service providers and its determination to ensure that stakeholders operating within the port environment have access to reliable and efficient services.
