All People’s Congress (APC) stalwart Abubakarr Kamara-Taylor, popularly known as AKT, has embarked on an intensive grassroots engagement across Port Loko District, meeting party executives and stakeholders in eight constituencies within 24 hours of returning from the United Kingdom.

Kamara-Taylor’s return quickly turned into a district-wide mobilisation exercise after he was welcomed in Lungi by youth groups and party stakeholders. Rather than settling in following his arrival, he proceeded directly into the field, meeting constituency executives, youth and women’s leaders, and ordinary party members across the district.

His outreach covered Constituencies 069 and 070 in Lunsar, 072 in Masiaka, 073 in Mile-38 within Koya Chiefdom, 074 in Lokomasama, 075 and 076 in Lungi, and 077.

The meetings provided an opportunity for grassroots members to raise concerns and discuss the state of party organisation following the recent district executive elections.

A central theme of the engagements was the need for peace, reconciliation, unity and stronger party organisation. Addressing stakeholders, Kamara-Taylor stressed the importance of overcoming internal differences and beginning preparations early, warning against repeating what he described as mistakes made during the previous two elections.

“We need oneness in this Party, real oneness in this Party. We need to put our house together,” AKT told stakeholders.

He also urged party members not to wait until election periods before beginning mobilisation efforts.

“We have made similar mistakes in the past two elections. We should not wait for us to have limited time to campaign as in the previous elections,” he said.

His message placed particular emphasis on sustained grassroots organisation, continuous engagement and stronger communication between the party’s constituency structures and its wider leadership.

The outreach also focused on strengthening relationships between grassroots members and party leadership, with AKT encouraging stakeholders to remain engaged, resolve differences through dialogue and build stronger internal structures ahead of future political activities.

The Port Loko engagements are expected to continue, with further meetings reportedly planned across other communities in the district. The initiative is being framed around five key themes: peace, reconciliation, organisation, unity and service, as AKT continues his direct engagement with APC structures following his return to Sierra Leone.
