The First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Maada Jabbe Bio, on Saturday, 3rd October 2026, paid a condolence visit to Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray at his residence in Kenema following the passing of his wife, Mrs. Fatmata Swarray.

During the visit, the First Lady expressed her heartfelt condolences to Chief Swarray and the bereaved family. She explained that she was out of the country at the time of the burial and, upon her return, considered it important to personally visit her elder brother and extend her sympathy to the family.

Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray warmly welcomed the First Lady and her delegation and expressed appreciation for the gesture. He described the visit as a reflection of the bond between them, noting that he regards the First Lady as his sister and therefore valued her decision to come and share in the family’s moment of grief.

The delegation accompanying the First Lady included the Resident Minister East, Hon. Gbessay Gobbeh, as well as District Executives of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).

The meeting also provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss peace, reconciliation and the importance of family unity. In a spirit of reconciliation, the First Lady and Chief Swarray acknowledged the need to move forward together, with both expressing forgiveness and a commitment to maintaining peace and strengthening their relationship.

The visit concluded on a positive note, with both sides reaffirming their shared bond as family and pledging to continue fostering peace, unity, mutual respect and understanding.

The condolence visit was therefore not only a gesture of sympathy to the bereaved family, but also a moment of reconciliation, renewed fellowship and a shared commitment to moving forward together
