The Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA) Caretaker Body has commenced preparations to oversee the Association’s forthcoming election of Directors, scheduled for 26 October 2026 in Freetown.

The election is set to take place at the Freetown International Conference Center, Bintumani, Aberdeen, beginning at 3:00 p.m.

The Caretaker Body, chaired by Osman Ibrahim Kanu Esq., assumed responsibility for conducting the election following the Extraordinary General Meeting of the Association held on 6 August 2026.

As part of its mandate, the Caretaker Body said it will establish the rules and procedures required to facilitate an orderly and credible electoral process.

It is also expected to provide members with further information on key aspects of the election, including nomination procedures, voter verification, polling arrangements and other relevant electoral requirements, through the Association’s official communication channels.

The Caretaker Body said it remains committed to ensuring that the election is conducted in a transparent, accountable, professional and orderly manner, while safeguarding the dignity, independence, unity and professional integrity of the SLBA.

It has called on members of the Association to cooperate with the transition and electoral arrangements in the collective interest of the legal profession.

The Caretaker Body said further updates will be issued as preparations for the October 26 election continue.
