The Commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), Chief Amb. Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, has commended the leadership of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) for what he described as significant progress in the transformation and modernization of the Port of Freetown.

Commissioner Ndomahina made the remarks on Thursday, September 17, 2026, during a courtesy visit to the SLPHA Director General, Yankuba Askia Bio, and Deputy Director General, Madam Judith Boi Kosseh.

The visit provided an opportunity for the NaCSA Commissioner to engage the leadership of SLPHA and acknowledge ongoing developments at the Port of Freetown.

During the meeting, Ndomahina commended DG Bio and his management team for what he described as the “remarkable transformation” taking place at the port.

He noted that ongoing reforms, infrastructure development and modernization initiatives had improved the port’s outlook and operational capacity.

According to the NaCSA Commissioner, the developments have positioned the Port of Freetown as one of the fastest-growing ports in the sub-region, citing continued efforts to improve infrastructure, efficiency and service delivery.

Responding to the visit, SLPHA Director General Yankuba Askia Bio expressed appreciation for the recognition of the work being undertaken by the authority and other stakeholders.

Bio emphasized that the progress at the port was the result of collective efforts involving SLPHA, government institutions, private operators and other stakeholders within the port sector.

He stressed the importance of sustaining the momentum and building on the gains recorded so far.

The courtesy visit concluded with both sides reaffirming the importance of continued institutional engagement and collaboration in support of Sierra Leone’s development objectives.
