Magistrate Harold Kamara of the Mile 91 Magistrate Court has convicted and sentenced three men after they pleaded guilty to offences relating to the theft and receipt of stolen property.

The three defendants, Hassan Kamara, Alusine Kamara and Ibrahim Fullah, appeared before Magistrate Kamara in a case brought by the Inspector General of Police and were charged under the Larceny Act of 1916.

Hassan Kamara, the first defendant, was charged with larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916. The charge alleged that on September 1, 2026, at Bo Road, Mile 91, he stole a generator valued at Le15,000, eight rubber paints valued at Le14,400 and five gallons of rubber valued at Le150, with the items belonging to Sheku Samy.

Ibrahim Fullah, the third defendant, was charged with receiving stolen property contrary to Section 33(1) of the Larceny Act 1916. The prosecution alleged that on September 5, 2026, at 22 Freetown Road, Mile 91, he received five gallons of rubber paint valued at Le14,550 from the second defendant, Alusine Kamara.

Alusine Kamara was also arraigned in connection with the transaction forming part of the prosecution’s case.

All three defendants pleaded guilty to their respective charges.

Before sentencing, the prosecution tendered the defendants’ voluntary cautioned statements and charge statements as exhibits. The prosecution also tendered a yellow and black power generator allegedly stolen by the first defendant.

In his judgment delivered on September 14, Magistrate Harold Kamara said the guilty pleas were unequivocal and supported by the defendants’ respective voluntary cautioned statements and the exhibits presented before the court.

The Magistrate said he was satisfied that the pleas were freely and voluntarily made and that the defendants understood the nature and consequences of their pleas. He subsequently convicted all three defendants as charged.

Before imposing sentence, Magistrate Kamara considered the defendants’ pleas in mitigation, including their status as first-time offenders and their decision to plead guilty at the earliest opportunity, which he noted had saved the court’s time and avoided a prolonged trial.

Hassan Kamara was sentenced to pay a fine of Le3,000 to the state or, in default, serve 12 months in prison.

Alusine Kamara was similarly fined Le3,000 or 12 months’ imprisonment in default, while Ibrahim Fullah was also fined Le3,000 or 12 months in prison if he fails to pay.

Magistrate Kamara further ordered that the recovered yellow and black power generator be returned to its lawful owner.

The judgment was delivered on September 14, 2026, at the Mile 91 Magistrate Court.
