The National Water Resources Management Agency (NWRMA) has intensified its compliance activities across Sierra Leone’s Northern and Southern Regions, engaging water users, including water packaging companies, to assess their adherence to regulatory requirements.

During a recent compliance exercise in Bo, the NWRMA Compliance Team visited Splash Purified Water Company and engaged the management on the importance of complying with the Agency’s regulatory requirements, including registration and obtaining a water use permit.

The engagement formed part of the Agency’s efforts to ensure that water-related businesses operate in accordance with Sierra Leone’s water resources management laws and regulations.

Following the compliance process, a cross-section of NWRMA staff, including the Director-General, visited Splash Purified Water Company to formally hand over the company’s water use permit.

The handover marks a significant milestone in the Agency’s efforts to promote regulatory compliance, strengthen oversight of water resources and ensure the sustainable, lawful and responsible use of Sierra Leone’s water resources.

The NWRMA commended Splash Purified Water Company for its cooperation and commitment to fulfilling the requirements of the National Water Resources Management Act.

The Agency also encouraged other water users, particularly water packaging companies and hotels, to follow suit by completing their registration and permitting processes and ensuring full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

The NWRMA reaffirmed its commitment to working collaboratively with water users to promote responsible water resource management and strengthen regulatory compliance across Sierra Leone.
