The University of Sierra Leone Teaching Hospitals Complex (USLTHC) has witnessed a leadership transition following the formal handover of the Chairperson of its Board of Administration from Dr. Sonia Melisa Spencer to Prof. Gibrilla Fadlu Deen.

The handover ceremony, held today, brought together members of the Board, Heads of Departments, Consultants, staff of the Complex and members of the media, underscoring the importance of the transition to the institution’s continued development.

Dr. Spencer formally handed over the leadership of the Board to Prof. Deen as she concluded her tenure as Chairperson. The institution acknowledged her service and leadership during her time at the helm and wished her continued success in her future endeavours.

The leadership transition comes as the USLTHC continues efforts to strengthen its governance and institutional capacity while advancing its mandate in clinical care, medical education, specialist training, research and healthcare service delivery.

Welcoming Prof. Deen as the new Chairperson, the USLTHC expressed confidence in his leadership, vision and contribution towards advancing the strategic objectives of the Teaching Hospitals Complex.

The institution said the new leadership marks another chapter in its ongoing commitment to strengthening the Teaching Hospitals Complex and improving its contribution to healthcare and medical education in Sierra Leone.
