The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has congratulated Ing. Edmond Benjamin Nonie on his appointment as Deputy Commissioner General 2, welcoming his extensive experience in engineering, energy policy, infrastructure planning, investment analysis, innovation and enterprise development.

Nonie joins the NRA after serving as Deputy Minister of Energy I, where he worked with the Ministry’s leadership and development partners on several strategic national initiatives.

During his tenure at the Ministry of Energy, he contributed to the Mission 300 Compact and the development of the Productive Use of Energy Policy. He also led the Dry Season Power Procurement and Management Plans for 2024, 2025 and 2026, aimed at strengthening energy planning, reliability and access.

The new Deputy Commissioner General 2 holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical and Maintenance Engineering from Fourah Bay College and a Postgraduate Certificate in Finance, Contracts and Risk Mitigation for Private Power Investment in Africa from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town. He is also a member of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers.

Before entering Sierra Leone’s public service, Nonie spent four years with the UNICEF Office of Innovation in New York and Stockholm. He also worked as an Investment Analyst for the Energy portfolio at ManoCap LLC in Freetown, where he assessed manufacturing and large-scale hospitality companies for potential solar-asset investment.

His experience at ManoCap included credit analysis, technical assessment, investment evaluation and due diligence, further broadening his professional expertise.

Nonie is also an entrepreneur and co-founder of two small and medium-sized enterprises, one focused on import, export and logistics and the other on engineering and data science.

The NRA said his diverse professional background brings together technical expertise, strategic leadership, innovation and practical business experience, which the Authority expects will contribute to its work and Sierra Leone’s broader development.

The NRA Board and Senior Management Team, together with staff, partners and taxpayers, congratulated Nonie and welcomed him to his new assignment, wishing him success as he takes on the responsibility of serving the nation in his new capacity.
