The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has condemned an alleged incident of gender-identification harassment involving a player of Mogbwemo Queens FC, reportedly at a police checkpoint in Bo.

According to the SLFA, the alleged incident involved a male police officer and has raised concerns over the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the affected player.

The Association said it unequivocally condemns the alleged conduct and considers the protection and welfare of every footballer to be of paramount importance.

The SLFA Safeguarding Manager is reportedly in constant contact with the affected player and Mogbwemo Queens FC, while appropriate safeguarding protocols have been activated in line with applicable FIFA Safeguarding Guidelines.

The football governing body also confirmed that Mogbwemo Queens FC has formally reported the matter to the relevant authorities.

The SLFA said it will continue to support the player and the club while closely monitoring the situation pending the establishment of the facts and any appropriate action by the competent authorities.

The Association has called on the relevant authorities to ensure that the matter is investigated promptly, fairly and in accordance with the law.

The SLFA reiterated its zero-tolerance position towards harassment, abuse and any conduct that undermines the dignity and safety of football players.

The Association further reaffirmed its commitment to protecting all players and promoting a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for football in Sierra Leone.
