The Parliament of Sierra Leone has announced an emergency sitting scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to consider matters relating to the approval of presidential nominees.

According to a public notice issued by the Parliamentary and Public Relations Department on Thursday, August 13, the sitting was summoned by President Brigadier (Retired) Dr. Julius Maada Bio following the last adjournment of Parliament.

The emergency sitting will be held in the Chamber of Parliament and will focus on the consideration and approval of nominees submitted by the President.

The Clerk of Parliament cited Section 86(1) of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone, which provides that: “The President may at any time summon a meeting of Parliament.”

The Office of the Clerk has therefore urged all Members of Parliament to attend the emergency sitting and to do so on time.

The notice, dated August 13, 2026, was issued by the Parliamentary and Public Relations Department of the Parliament of Sierra Leone.
