The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has presented an ex gracia payment of Seventy Five Thousand Leones (Le75,000) to the family of the late Bureh Ganso Koroma, a former Mighty Blackpool FC player, in fulfilment of one of the recommendations made by the Adhoc Committee established to investigate allegations of neglect by officials of the SLFA and the Sierra Leone National Men’s Team during the past administration.

The concerns stemmed from the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the death of Bureh Ganso Koroma, who sustained severe injuries following an on-pitch collision during a friendly match between Leone Stars and Mighty Blackpool FC in May 2025. The incident generated widespread public concern and prompted the SLFA Executive Committee to constitute an independent Adhoc Committee to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

Following its findings, the Committee made several recommendations, including the payment of financial support to the bereaved family. The Executive Committee accepted the recommendations and has now fulfilled this particular obligation with the disbursement of Le75,000 to the family of the deceased.

The SLFA extends its deepest condolences once again to the family of the late Bureh Ganso Koroma and reiterates its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of players while upholding transparency, accountability, and the highest standards of care across all levels of football in Sierra Leone
