The newly appointed Deputy Director General of NASSIT, Mohamed Orman Bangura, has commended the outgoing Director General, Mohamed Fuaad Daboh, for his exemplary leadership, service and significant contributions to the Scheme’s development. Mr Bangura, who will be in charge of Administration and Finance, made the remarks during the training programme for NASSIT staff on the new Pension Administration System (PAS).
The training sessions, held at the NASSIT headquarters and all regional offices, are led by senior management and the PAS technical team. This initiative is a key step in the Trust’s digital transformation, aimed at improving service quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Addressing staff at the Headquarters, outgoing Director General, Mohamed Fuaad Daboh, gave an overview of the Pension Administration System and highlighted its strategic importance in NASSIT’s operations. He explained that the system covers all aspects of daily activities, from member registration and contributions payment to benefit processing and reporting. It is designed to streamline processes, minimise delays, and improve user experience for staff and members alike, ultimately benefiting the Trust and the country.
“The PAS is more than just software; it represents the future of how we serve our members,” he stated.
Mr Daboh urged staff to fully engage in the training, noting that the system’s success depends on their dedication and sense of ownership.
“We are investing in this system and, most importantly, in you. Your commitment will determine how successful this change will be,” he emphasised, while urging staff to be dedicated to the service of the Trust, emphasising that diligent work at NASSIT will benefit not only the organisation but also the staff themselves in service and during retirement.
“As I proceed on retirement, I am confident that this new system will play a key role in transforming our way of doing business. We owe this to ourselves and our Country.
On his part, the incoming Deputy-Director General Administration and Finance acknowledged the leadership of Mr Daboh, emphasising his role in making NASSIT an enviable institution in Sierra Leone and the sub-region, which serves to motivate staff and recognise past efforts.
He noted that under Mr Daboh’s stewardship, the Trust achieved significant milestones that have repositioned the Scheme for efficiency and sustainability. He highlighted improved work processes across departments, the timely payment of benefits to pensioners and other beneficiaries, and the remarkable increase in compliance among employers and employees.
He also singled out the landmark Pension Administration System as a transformative innovation that has added great value to the Scheme. He explained that the system has not only enhanced data integrity and operational efficiency but also significantly improved the customer experience and public confidence in the Trust, fostering excitement about future improvements.
“The outgoing Director General leaves behind a legacy of reforms and stability. The systems he championed will continue to serve the Scheme for many years to come,” Mr Bangura stated.
In his address to staff, the Incoming Deputy Director-General called on all members of staff to be committed and remain steadfast, not only during training but also in the execution of their daily duties. He reminded staff that working for NASSIT is a vital contribution to their own social security, fostering a sense of ownership and motivation.
“Serving NASSIT is not just serving one’s country, but serving oneself. Every contribution you make today is a contribution to your own future social security,” he emphasised.
Mr Bangura made a poignant reference to the outgoing Director General as a perfect example of the Scheme’s promise – transitioning from an active employee who diligently served the nation to a proud, retired statesman who will now benefit from the very system he helped to strengthen.
In closing, Mr Bangura assured management, staff, and members of the Scheme of his total commitment to the call for service, pledging that he will discharge his duties with utmost stewardship, integrity and dedication in the interest of the Trust and the people of Sierra Leone.
