The Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Institute of Public Administration and Management (Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM)), Prof. Ezekiel Kalvin Duramany Lakkoh, has disclosed that students at the institution pay less than US$300 annually in tuition fees, describing the amount as one of the lowest in the world.
Speaking on student welfare, financial support, and career guidance, Prof. Lakkoh explained that the relatively low fees are made possible through government intervention. He noted that the Government of Sierra Leone subsidizes a significant portion of the tuition costs, easing the financial burden on students and their families.
He further emphasized that this subsidy forms part of broader national efforts to expand access to higher education and ensure that more young people can pursue university studies regardless of their economic background.
According to him, the policy reflects the government’s continued commitment to making tertiary education more affordable, while strengthening human capital development in Sierra Leone.
