Former President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of veteran politician and former All Peoples Congress (APC) National Chairman, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, describing his death as a significant loss to both the party and the nation.
In a heartfelt tribute issued from Abuja, Nigeria, on 20th June 2026, Koroma reflected on Mansaray’s longstanding commitment to the APC and his distinguished record of public service, noting that he devoted many years of his life to the party and national development.
According to the former president, Mansaray’s political journey within the APC began at the Youth League level and rose through the ranks to the highest office of National Chairman, demonstrating unwavering dedication and loyalty to the party. Koroma also highlighted Mansaray’s contributions to Sierra Leone through various governmental roles, where he served with distinction.
Koroma further revealed that Mansaray was among the earliest figures within the APC to identify and support his leadership ambitions, especially during the party’s most challenging internal struggles. He described him as a steadfast ally whose loyalty remained unshaken throughout his presidency from 2007 to 2018.
“His passing represents an irreparable loss to his family, to the APC, to me personally, and to all those whose lives he touched in the course of his service,” Koroma stated.
Extending condolences to Mansaray’s wife, children, family members, APC supporters, friends, and colleagues, Koroma called on all mourners to remember the late politician for his purposeful life, service, and devotion to others.
Fondly referring to him as “Orminkay,” Koroma said the late APC stalwart’s impact and legacy would remain alive in the hearts of many.
