Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, has announced a new directive restricting academic activities on Fridays to allow Muslim students and staff to observe Jummah prayers.

In a notice issued to all Deans, Heads of Departments, and lecturers, the institution stated that with immediate effect, no lectures, tests, examinations, or other official academic activities should be scheduled between 12:50 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. on Fridays.

The arrangement, according to the notice, is aimed at providing Muslim students and staff the opportunity to observe Jummah prayers in recognition of their religious rights and obligations.

Administrators across the institution have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the directive.

The policy underscores the college’s commitment to inclusivity and respect for religious practices within the academic environment.
