The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has confirmed that a total of 79 applications were received for the position of Head Coach of the national men’s football team, Leone Stars, following the closure of the application process on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
According to the SLFA, the submissions comprised three local coaches and 76 foreign applicants, reflecting strong international interest in the role as the country continues its search for a new technical leader for the senior national team.
The Association noted that its Technical Committee, in collaboration with the Technical Department, has now begun the review process of all applications received. The next stage of the recruitment exercise will involve shortlisting qualified candidates who will be invited for interviews.
The SLFA reaffirmed that the selection process will be conducted in a transparent and merit-based manner, aimed at identifying a highly competent coach capable of strengthening the performance and competitiveness of the national side.
The recruitment process is part of broader efforts to rebuild and improve the technical structure of Leone Stars under the supervision of the Sierra Leone Football Association, as the team prepares for upcoming international commitments.
