Haja Isatu Bah Kamara, Southern Regional Chairperson of the All People’s Congress (APC) Party, has issued a strong statement addressing reports that President Julius Maada Bio allegedly threatened supporters of the APC in Bonthe District.

In her statement, Haja Bah Kamara described the alleged remarks, suggesting that APC supporters in Bonthe should “die early in the morning,” as “deeply disturbing” and contrary to Sierra Leone’s democratic values and national unity.

“Let me state unequivocally: Sierra Leone belongs to all its citizens, regardless of political affiliation, region, tribe, or belief, and Bonthe is no exception. No citizen should ever feel threatened, intimidated, or unsafe because of their political choices,” the regional chairperson said.

She condemned any language, confirmed or alleged, that incites harm, promotes division, or undermines the peace Sierra Leoneans have collectively worked to build. “Politics must never be reduced to a platform for fear or violence; it must remain a vehicle for service, development, and the peaceful exchange of ideas,” she added.

Haja Bah Kamara further urged all political leaders to exercise restraint, responsibility, and respect in their public engagements, emphasizing that words must unite rather than divide, and heal rather than harm.

Addressing APC supporters, she appealed for calm and law-abiding conduct, stressing that the party’s strength lies in a commitment to peace, democracy, and the rule of law. She also called on civil society, religious leaders, and the international community to continue promoting dialogue, accountability, and the protection of democratic principles in Sierra Leone.

“Let us rise above political hostility and reaffirm our commitment to national unity, tolerance, and mutual respect. Sierra Leone’s future will not be secured through threats or intimidation, but through our collective resolve to build a peaceful, just, and prosperous nation for all,” Haja Bah Kamara concluded.
