The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced the immediate administrative suspension of the Head Coach of the U-17 Female National Team, Ms. Fatmata Turay, pending the outcome of a formal disciplinary inquiry.

In a press release issued on Monday, 23 February 2026, the Association disclosed that the decision follows the circulation of audio recordings on social media in which statements allegedly attributed to the coach reference a U-17 national team player and matters relating to club affiliation and potential national team selection.

According to the SLFA, the allegations—if substantiated—raise serious concerns bordering on abuse of authority, conflict of interest, and conduct that may be prejudicial to the integrity of the national team selection process.

The Association emphasized that the independence, transparency, and merit-based nature of national team selection remain fundamental principles of football governance in Sierra Leone. It noted that any action capable of undermining these principles warrants prompt and impartial review.

The SLFA clarified that the suspension is precautionary and administrative in nature and does not amount to a finding of misconduct or liability. It further assured that the affected official will be given full opportunity to respond to the allegations before the appropriate disciplinary body, in strict adherence to due process and the rules of natural justice.

The Association reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of players, maintaining institutional integrity, and upholding the highest ethical and professional standards in the administration of football in the country.
