The Petroleum Directorate of Sierra Leone (PDSL) on February 4, 2026, held a high-level meeting with a delegation from international energy company Eni at Petroleum House in Freetown, marking a significant step in the ongoing development of the country’s oil and gas sector.

The engagement focused on Eni’s ongoing offshore exploration activities, during which the company provided updates on its operations and technical progress. The Eni delegation reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining regular communication with the Government of Sierra Leone and keeping relevant authorities fully informed on all developments.

Discussions between the two parties emphasized the importance of transparency, collaboration, and responsible petroleum operations as key principles for fostering trust, supporting host communities, and ensuring effective and sustainable resource management.

Officials from PDSL welcomed the engagement, describing it as part of a proactive, partnership-driven approach aimed at advancing the sustainable development of Sierra Leone’s petroleum resources in line with international best practices.

The meeting underscores the Government’s continued efforts to strengthen cooperation with industry partners while safeguarding national interests in the extractive sector.
