Ambassador Sheku Foryoh, founder of the Youth and Children’s Advocacy Panel (YACAP), has declared his interest in contesting for the position of Diaspora Young Congress Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), positioning himself as a strong advocate for youth empowerment within the party.
Sheku Foryoh is widely recognised for his active involvement in strengthening the APC’s diaspora structures. In 2022, he was instrumental in the establishment of the APC Cyprus Chapter, serving as one of its founding members and playing a pivotal role in shaping the chapter’s early development and organisational framework.
His commitment to the party’s growth continued in 2023 when he became a key member of Dr. Samura Kamara’s fundraising team. In that role, Sheku contributed to mobilising support while also using his expertise to help communicate the APC manifesto, with particular emphasis on policies aimed at empowering young people.
Within the Diaspora Young Congress, Sheku has demonstrated leadership by chairing and coordinating several committees, including those responsible for organising Dinner and Fundraising events. He notably led efforts for the first and third editions of these initiatives, which were widely regarded as successful and helped strengthen engagement among young APC members in the diaspora.
Supporters describe Sheku Foryoh as a committed and driven party member whose contributions have consistently aligned with the APC’s vision. His involvement across party structures has earned him recognition as a valued figure within the APC community, particularly among young members.
Born and raised in Sierra Leone, Sheku Foryoh has dedicated much of his life to serving others, especially vulnerable children and young people. In 2015, he founded the Youth and Children’s Advocacy Panel (YACAP) in response to growing concerns affecting women, girls, and youths across the country.
YACAP is a non-profit organisation focused on helping young people build a better future through education, vocational skills training, mentoring, and leadership development programmes. The organisation is guided by the belief that empowered youths can become active contributors to national development and community transformation.
Sheku’s motivation to establish YACAP was shaped by his earlier experiences working with children as President of the Children’s Forum Network, Eastern Branch, under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender, and Children’s Affairs. Through that role, he gained firsthand insight into the challenges facing children and young people, reinforcing his resolve to create sustainable solutions.
One of YACAP’s flagship initiatives is the National Youth Summit, a programme designed to empower young people through education and leadership training. The initiative addresses critical issues such as limited access to education, youth empowerment, early marriage, and the high prevalence of gender-based violence.
As Sheku Foryoh sets his sights on the leadership of the APC Diaspora Young Congress, supporters say his track record in advocacy, party organisation, and youth development positions him as a candidate focused on inclusive leadership and meaningful change.
